🦁🦋 Monticello Elementary – CKLA Unit 2: Animal Classification 🐢🐟

Today, our students became zoologists as we explored the fascinating world of animal classification! 🐾 Students in Mrs. Jessica’s classes learned to classify animals as either vertebrates or invertebrates and used their text and text features to find evidence to support their thinking. 📚🔍

We are building strong reading comprehension and science skills as we learn to ask questions, gather information, and use evidence like real scientists! Way to go, young zoologists! 🌟🧑‍🔬

🐾📦 Learning About Volume in a CREATIVE Way! 📦🐾

Our 5th graders put their creativity and math skills to work by designing animals using everyday objects as they explored the concept of volume! 🦒🐘🐊

Through this hands-on activity, students learned how three-dimensional shapes take up space and how to calculate volume while bringing their imaginative animal creations to life. Who says math can’t be fun? 🎨📏

Today, we were honored to receive our Tier 3 PBIS Banner from SESC! ❤️🖤

This recognition reflects the positive culture we have built together through the dedication of our staff, the efforts of our students, and the support of our families. Achieving Tier 3 status is a testament to the commitment our entire school community has made to creating a safe, supportive, and successful learning environment.

As Principal Mrs. Virginia Cares shared:

💬 “Working together as a team and maintaining consistency with our Go CARDS expectations have been key to reaching our PBIS goals. We will continue to keep our students at the center of our work by making sure their behavioral and social-emotional needs are being met through Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III supports!”
