Thank you for continuing to work with us as we improve our dismissal process. We have been closely monitoring traffic flow each afternoon, and we have identified one important way we can reduce congestion on campus and Highway 212. Please do not arrive on campus more than 20 minutes before your child's dismissal time.

JCPS ONLY: Please arrive no earlier than 2:30 p.m.
WPES ONLY: Please arrive no earlier than 2:45 p.m.
Students at BOTH schools: Please arrive no earlier than 2:45 p.m., pick up at WPES first, and then merge into the JCPS line.

Because Jasper County Primary dismisses before Washington Park, Primary-only vehicles will be given priority access during the Primary dismissal window. Arriving significantly before your school's dismissal time causes the WPES line to fill before students are released, which can block Primary traffic and create unnecessary backups on Highway 212. Once again, please continue to take a gap, give a gap, use your blinker when merging, leave room for buses, and follow staff directions.

Special Dismissal Pass: Parents/guardians of students with special needs may request an individualized dismissal pass through their child’s PEC teacher. Approved passes, reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the special education teacher and principal, will allow families to enter campus up to 40 minutes before dismissal and must be displayed during dismissal. For Monday and Tuesday, families awaiting a pass may simply let staff know they plan to request one.

MERGE POINT DESIGNATION: Please merge at the large white X.

To help keep the WPES dismissal line from becoming gridlocked, we are asking families to use the first “DO NOT BLOCK” white X on the road, just before the backside 5th grade parking lot, as our designated merge point. WPES traffic should merge into the JCPS line just before reaching the X.

A few important reminders:

If you have students at both schools, please pick up at WPES first, then JCPS. As you approach the merge point, TAKE GAP. GIVE GAP.
Please use your blinker so other drivers know you are merging.
Be patient and allow one another space to safely enter the JCPS line.

IMPORTANT DISMISSAL UPDATE FOR WPES & JCPS

Beginning tomorrow, families who have students at BOTH schools should pick up at Washington Park Elementary FIRST, then proceed to Jasper County Primary.

After picking up at Washington Park, you will merge into the Primary line. Please turn on your blinker to let other drivers and staff know you need to merge. We also ask drivers in the Primary line to please allow Washington Park traffic to merge.

We know there were frustrations today, especially with the amount of time dismissal took, and we apologize. Thank you for your patience as we put the new traffic pattern into practice for the first time. Based on what we learned today, we are already making adjustments. In addition to changing the pick-up order, we are adjusting internal procedures at both schools and the timing of bus dismissal to help traffic move more efficiently.

Please remember to leave space for buses to get through, allow vehicles to merge, and follow the directions of staff as we make these adjustments.

We appreciate your patience and ask that you continue to work with us in a spirit of continuous improvement. We learned a lot today, and we will keep making adjustments to make the process safer, smoother, and faster for our families.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during arrival this morning! We know a new traffic pattern takes some getting used to, and we appreciate everyone working with our staff as we learn the new routine together. As we get ready for our first dismissal this afternoon, we want to share a few reminders to help things go as smoothly and safely as possible.
