Sessions will cover puppet theatre, storytelling, script writing, sound and lighting technology, arts grants, the new arts standards, and more. Participants can register for one day or both days, and up to 12 PowerSchool credits will be available.

That's a wrap on the 2026 Summer SAIL Institute!
What an incredible week of creativity, collaboration, learning, and inspiration. Over the past several days, educators from across Alabama have come together to explore arts-integrated teaching strategies, build meaningful connections, and discover new ways to engage students through the arts.
A special thank you to our final day presenters, Venna Everett, Euri Carr, Rob Lyda, and Rebecca Wall for sharing their expertise and helping us conclude the institute with valuable insights and inspiration.
We are also deeply grateful to all of our presenters who generously shared their knowledge throughout the week, and to every participant who brought enthusiasm, creativity, and a commitment to learning. Your engagement and passion made this year's Summer SAIL Institute a truly memorable experience.

Day 2 of the 2026 Summer SAIL Institute blended arts, learning, and teamwork both in and out of the classroom!
Educators spent the day exploring arts-integrated learning through engaging sessions led by our outstanding presenters. A heartfelt thank you to Durinda C. Cheek and Jo Taylor for sharing innovative approaches to visual arts instruction, and to Dr. Sallye York for leading an inspiring session focused on music and its impact on student learning.
To wrap up the day, participants headed to Montgomery Biscuits Stadium for our session—The Arts and Athletics—where we enjoyed a great evening of baseball, community, and conversation while exploring the connections between creativity, performance, teamwork, and sports.
Thank you to everyone who continues to make this week such a meaningful experience. We’re looking forward to another day of learning, inspiration, and arts integration!

What an inspiring start to the 2026 Summer SAIL Institute!
Educators from across Alabama came together to explore the power of arts-integrated learning through creativity, collaboration, and hands-on experiences. We are grateful to everyone who joined us for an engaging first day of learning and connection.
A special thank you to our incredible presenters, Lonny Harrison and Kerri-Noelle Humphrey, for sharing their expertise, passion, and innovative strategies that educators can bring back to their classrooms.
The Summer SAIL Institute, hosted by the Alabama Arts Alliance and the Alabama Institute for Education in the Arts, is off to a fantastic start, and we can't wait to see what Day 2 has in store!
