Alabama Community College System

The Alabama Community College System was represented today at the Junior Achievement of Alabama McWane Economic Education Center ribbon cutting in the City of Birmingham Government!

The ACCS has a pair of spaces at the new state-of-the-art learning facility where 6th and 8th-grade students will be able to explore careers, manage budgets, run businesses and gain hands-on experience, preparing them for their futures before graduating high school.

In BizTown, students will have the opportunity to "attend" the ACCS and learn about the education and training opportunities available through Alabama's community colleges. In Finance Park, students are given a real-world financial scenario and must build a monthly budget, while balancing every day expenses.

FRIDAY, JUNE 12 is the application deadline for the 'Building Futures: Enhancing Lives with Scholarships,' jointly hosted by The Alabama Community College System and the Alabama Association of RC&D Councils.

The scholarships, valued at $2,000 for only 50 students, are for Alabama residents enrolled at an ACCS institution and interested in high-demand careers in the aviation and construction industries. Eligible programs include the following: Aviation Mechanics, Avionics, Construction Management, Welders and Pipefitters, HVAC/R Technicians, Carpenters, Electricians and Plumbers.

The scholarships cover tuition, books, and fees to help traditional, non-traditional and Veteran students gain job-ready skills.
