Last week, we had the chance to travel to Denver, Colorado, for the 2026 Title IV‑E Roundtable: Growing Hope Rooted in Community, and it was such a meaningful experience. The conference offered a wonderful space to learn more about child welfare and the support available to both undergraduate and graduate students.
We were also able to bring one of our students, LaKeisha Lark, along, and she soaked up so much knowledge to share with AUM. Seeing her excitement and growth was honestly one of the best parts of the trip. The conference even included a fun reception at the Denver Broncos stadium, which gave us a little time to relax and connect with others in the field.
I really love moments like this, when we get to learn, grow, and show our Social Work students just how many doors a social work degree can open.

The Department of Social Work and Anthropology was delighted to celebrate our students at the Spring 2026 Student Recognition Ceremony. We are especially proud to welcome new members into the Phi Alpha Honor Society and the Lambda Alpha Society. Congratulations on this well-deserved achievement!
To our graduating social work seniors: congratulations on reaching this incredible milestone! As you prepare to cross the stage this Saturday, we celebrate not only your accomplishments but also the exciting paths ahead, whether you’re continuing your education, beginning your professional journey, or taking a well-earned pause to reflect and recharge.
We are so proud of each and every one of you. Remember, once a mentor, always a mentor. You will always be part of our community. Wishing you all the very best in the journey ahead!

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to celebrate some of our students in the Social Work program. At the Celebration of Research and Creative Activity and Community Engagement Recognition, Tanjankia Haynes was awarded the Community Engagement Recognition. Students Jennifer Grant, Shannon King-Jackson, and Jamesha Bennett had the opportunity to present their poster presentation on "Am I Enough? Confronting Imposter Syndrome in the BSW Experience. We ended the day with the Honors Day celebration, recognizing one of our seniors, Shannon King-Jackson, as the Outstanding Student for the Department of Social Work and Anthropology. Beyond pleased to see these accomplishments.
