“MAYBE MY CHILD JUST ISN’T VERY MUSICAL.”
We hear this sometimes.
But here’s the thing: your child doesn’t have to already be musical to start music lessons.
Maybe they sing constantly around the house.
Maybe they know every word to their favorite songs.
Maybe they’re always tapping on something, making up songs, or asking you to turn the music up in the car.
Or maybe they show none of those signs.
That doesn’t mean they aren’t musical. It may just mean they haven’t had the opportunity to learn yet.
We don’t expect a child to know how to swim before swimming lessons. We don’t expect them to know how to balance on a bicycle
without some time with training wheels.
Music lessons are where they learn.
They come in not knowing.
They learn how to hold their instrument, read music, find the notes, keep a steady beat, and eventually put it all together into something they can actually play.
There will be mistakes. There will be things that take time.
And then one day, they’ll sit down and play a song they couldn’t play before.
That’s the part we love.
At Aspire, we’re not looking for students who already have everything figured out. We teach them.
Natural talent can certainly make some things easier—but it is not a prerequisite for beginning.
If your student is interested in music, that’s enough reason to give it a try.

Aspire Music Academy has been helping students learn, grow, and make music since 2010.
If you’ve been wondering whether your student is “musical enough” for lessons, don’t let that question keep you from starting.
They don’t have to know how to make music before they begin. That’s what we’re here to teach them.
