Ella Miller is a senior at Barr-Reeve High School and a four-year art student who especially enjoys painting and charcoal in her art classes. You can now see some of her incredible artwork right here in Montgomery at our new neighbors, Los Amigos Mexican Restaurant!

Ella painted the welcome wall and is creating a mural on the lower level of the restaurant. The owners wanted the mural to reflect the connection between the restaurant, our school, and the Montgomery community. Ella came up with the idea of featuring a field of farmers to represent the shared agricultural roots and cultural connections within our Amish and Hispanic communities.

The owners have already received great feedback on Ella’s artwork! Although the restaurant has opened, Ella is still working to put the finishing touches on her mural. Between school, Twin Rivers, and soccer, her schedule is busy! She has especially enjoyed painting in front of restaurant customers and striking up conversations with them about the mural and the inspiration behind it.

We are so proud of Ella for sharing her talent and creativity with our community! If you haven’t already, stop by Los Amigos in Montgomery to enjoy some great Mexican food and check out her beautiful artwork!

DID YOU KNOW?

Barr-Reeve Community Schools has had an operating referendum in place since 2013.

Our community first approved an operating referendum in 2013 and renewed it in 2020.

On November 3, 2026, voters will see another operating referendum question on the ballot.

An important fact to understand: The 2026 referendum is a RENEWAL of our current operating referendum. It will REPLACE the existing referendum, NOT be added on top of it.

FCA has been busy over the last two weeks with our high school and junior high groups. Special thanks to Eric Miller and Tasha Raymond for speaking to our students and leaving them with important ideas to help them through their lives!

Last week, Mrs. Mattingly's 6th-grade classes performed skits to help them remember the different types of economies. Students learned about what types of economies require money, the amount of government impact economies have, and how much input customers have on the products that are created and sold. This lesson was a great visual for these students!

❤️🖤 Our elementary students and staff gathered for our October Recognition Assembly to shine a spotlight on the positive choices and people who make our school a special place.

Our Caught Being Good students were recognized for showing kindness, treating others with respect, and making positive choices. We love seeing the difference they make each day!

Students and staff also recognized numerous staff members for the positive impact they have on our school. Mrs. Treva Graber was our gift card winner, selected in a drawing from those nominations. Thank you to all of our staff for the care and encouragement you bring to Barr-Reeve!

A group of our 5th graders helped kick off October’s Viking Value, Work Ethic, by sharing what it means and encouraging everyone to put it into practice throughout the month.

From small acts of kindness to setting a great example for others, our Vikings give us plenty of reasons to be proud! ❤️🖤
