Before we get too far into the fall semester, let's reminisce on the summer. We had two interns (Preethi Clayton and Katie McDermott) in the Legal Clinics this summer, and they stayed busy! We did a 3-day tour of the wiregrass and conducted community outreach events in Hartford, Dothan, and Ozark. Much thanks to our friend and collaborator Dr. Danielle Rudolph with Alabama A&M University and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. Then, we partnered with Montgomery Probate Judge JC Love for a full-day probate court assistance clinic. Finally, Professors Breland and Craft presented at the the Alabama Circuit and District Judges Annual Meeting on heirs' property and guardians ad litem (go figure). With just a little bit of down time, we are back in the saddle with a full cohort of fall clinic students.

Geneva county, here we come! Monday, July 13. During the afternoon clinic, we will be completing powers of attorney and healthcare directives on the spot. And answering questions about heirs' property.

Superstars spotted at our monthly clinic at Strong Tower! Travis Chin and Delaney Russ will be recognized by the Alabama State Bar later this summer as the 2026 Volunteer Lawyer and Volunteer Law Student of the Year!

It's a wrap for another semester! We were busy in the Elder Law and GAP (heirs' property) Clinics . . . finishing strong with community education and pro bono clinics in Fort Deposit, at Lightwood Church of Christ in Marbury, Freewill Missionary Baptist Church in Montgomery, and the West End Baptist Church and Chilton County Extension Office in Clanton. Whew! So proud of these law students for serving our communities.
