Faulkner Law Alum Jason Hicks Elected to Omicron Delta Kappa Board of Trustees

Lexington, VA (08/18/2026) — Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society, proudly announces the election of Jason F. Hicks to its Board of Trustees. An experienced attorney and community leader, Hicks brings extensive experience in local government, civil litigation, juvenile law, elder law, and family law to the national board.
The announcement was made by Jennifer L. Waller, O∆K president and chief executive officer.
“Omicron Delta Kappa is thrilled to welcome Jason Hicks to our Board of Trustees. His breadth of professional experience and commitment to service will be a tremendous asset to the Society,” Waller said.
Hicks currently serves as a deputy county attorney with Guilford County, North Carolina, and is licensed to practice law in North Carolina and Tennessee, including in federal district and appellate courts. His legal experience includes family and divorce law, probate, civil litigation, elder law, juvenile law, and local government law. He has held leadership roles with several legal organizations, including the Greensboro Bar Association and the North Carolina DSS Attorneys Association, and has delivered more than 75 continuing legal education presentations. Hicks earned his bachelor’s degree from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and his J.D. from Faulkner University, Thomas Goode Jones School of Law.
Omicron Delta Kappa is honored to welcome Jason Hicks to its Board of Trustees and looks forward to the experience, perspective, and leadership he will contribute to the Society’s ongoing mission.
Omicron Delta Kappa Society, the National Leadership Honor Society, was founded in Lexington, Virginia, on Dec. 3, 1914. The founders established the O∆K Idea — the belief that individuals representing all phases of collegiate life should collaborate to support their campus and community. O∆K honors and develops leaders and promotes collaboration, inclusivity, integrity, scholarship, and service. The Society is located on more than 300 college and university campuses throughout North America. The Society's national headquarters is located in Lexington, Virginia.

Last week, Faulkner Law’s Board of Advocates hosted a Civil Litigation Trial Strategy event featuring Ray Hawthorne and Carshala Youse of Hawthorne Atchison Riddle.

Students gained practical insights into civil litigation and trial advocacy, including developing effective trial strategies, evaluating which cases to pursue and navigating the decisions involved in taking a case to trial.

Thank you to Ray and Carshala for sharing their experience and helping our students prepare for the realities of courtroom practice!

As the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law at Faulkner University begins its 98th year of legal education, the law school is celebrating record enrollment and significant growth in applications, reflecting an expanding national reach and growing interest in its programs.

As of August 17, 2026, the Fall 2026 entering class includes 193 registered students representing 18 states and two countries. For the first time in the law school’s history, a majority of the entering class, 55%, comes from outside Alabama.

Faulkner Law hosted its second Professionalism Speaker Series panel this week, focusing on Artificial Intelligence and the Law.

The panel helped students explore the opportunities and challenges AI presents in the legal profession. They heard from College of Business Dean Justin Bond on the Fundamentals of AI, Professor Emma Mitchell on the Uses of AI and Justice John Browning on the Ethics of AI.
