At our August Board Meeting, we were proud to recognize these outstanding members of the MPS family:

🎓 Carson French (BTW Magnet High) – Completed the Alabama Governor's School, was named Most Outstanding Male Student, and earned a $20,000 scholarship to Samford University!

🎵 Tavaris Marlow (Brewbaker Middle Band Director) – Selected as a clinician for the ASU Middle School Honor Band to mentor young musicians from across the state!

📦 MPS Logistics Department – Worked tirelessly all summer behind the scenes to deliver, organize, and prepare every school for a successful Day 1!

Talk about leading by example! When the lunch line needed an extra hand today, Dalraida Elementary's Principal Dr. Bryan Cutter jumped right in—apron and all!

Our district team caught him in action, proving once again that in MPS, our leaders will do whatever it takes to serve our schools.

Welcome back, MPS! Our faculty, staff, and volunteers were so excited to welcome our scholars back with open arms and big energy for an incredible new school year!

We were especially honored to have our Superintendent, Dr. Zickeyous Byrd, out on the ground, connecting with our dedicated educators and team members at schools today as we kick off a fantastic year together.

Community partners coming together to make a difference!

Goodwyn Middle School was filled with helping hands as volunteers from across the community joined together for a day of cleaning, painting, and completing minor repairs to help refresh the campus before the new school year.

A special thank you to our friends at the NCO Academy at Maxwell Air Force Base, our valued military partner, and to all the volunteers who gave their time and talents to support our scholars and staff.

Your commitment helps create a welcoming and inspiring environment for the Goodwyn Middle School community. We appreciate you!

Our Academics and Accountability Department recently participated in professional learning to equip instructional specialists with the tools, strategies, and resources they'll use to support teachers and help every student succeed this school year.
