🚨🚨‼️‼️EVENT ALERT ‼️‼️🚨🚨

Speakeasy Party
A party featuring song, dance, feast, jollity and the music of Cole Porter

Don’t tell anyone, but the password is ‘Rinehart’ (the early 20th century rebel cry, yelled from dorm windows, that rallied Freshmen out to the Yard.) That word plus $35 ($25 for Harvard Club of The Hudson Valley Club members and their guests) will now gain entrance to the Speakeasy party we’re holding on Saturday, April 25th, starting at 5 pm.

The festivities are occasioned by our effort to rescue songwriter Cole Porter from his Yale-tainted reputation. After college in New Haven, Porter attended Harvard Law School for one year, when the Dean suggested he would be happier studying music, so he transferred to that department and was launched.

Thus our Speakeasy will feature singing Porter’s songs around the piano (Begin the Beguine, Night and Day, Anything Goes, etc.) led by pianist Tony Coretto ’82, joined by any others moved by the occasion, (dancing if so inclined) and compered by Hon. Al Rosenblatt LLB ’60. Hors d’oeuvres and a classic 1920s dinner catered by The Educated Chef, Mark Doctoroff ’82.

The Speakeasy is tucked in a private upstairs room at the Stoutridge Winery owned by Kim Wagner PhD ’94 and her husband, who can introduce you, at Harvard discount, to their natural wines and spirits, along with the Club’s signature cocktail. 1920s outfits optional (your grandmother’s string of beads or feather boa, your father’s blazer). Penchant for a historic good time always useful.

February is Cancer Prevention Month! Before it ends, take a moment to make sure you and your family are all caught up on screening:
-Mammography for women 40 and over
-Colonoscopy for all at age 45 (and every 5-10 years thereafter)
-Sunscreen
-Human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine for kids starting at age 9
-Reduce or eliminate ni****ne and alcohol use!

Large new global study also shows two types -- colorectal and uterine -- are becoming both more common and more deadly among the young.

On Thursday, February 26, 7:30-8:30pm, the Harvard-Radcliffe Club of Westchester is hosting "Can School Boards Save our Democracy?", a virtual presentation by the Westchester Club's own Scott Levy (College '94). Levy, an adjunct professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and former HAA board member, has been involved with local and regional New York school boards for many years. Last weekend, the Harvard Club of the Hudson Valley’s Board of Directors held its last meeting of the year. We are grateful to our hosts, board director Tosin Odugbemi Hoskins and her husband Jacob, for an amazing culinary feast and for their hospitality. They fueled our lively discussion and planning for what’s to come in 2026! We are also grateful to Club president Henrietta Lodge for chairing our meeting with her usual enthusiasm and dedication!

The family of Micah Yannatos, a graduate from Onteora High School and Harvard College, is asking for your consideration. Micah has been diagnosed with a serious kidney disorder and is in urgent need of a
kidney transplant. His family would happily do it, but they are not a match. They are asking individuals to be screened to identify a compatible donor. Please scan the QR code below for more information.

Join Hudson Valley Alumni and root for the Harvard football team as they take on the Yale Bulldogs.
The Mid-Hudson Valley Yale Club has invited us to come to what has become our annual joint Harvard-Yale Game viewing party. This year we will gather at The Woodstock Club House at 114 Mill Hill Road in Woodstock where you can order lunch and drinks, cheer on the Crimson Football team and enjoy a friendly rivalry with our Bulldog friends!
