Healing Species Texas

Healing Species Texas addresses the link between animal cruelty and violence against people. The first lesson asks children to see with their heart, to understand that animals have feelings. The whole reason to teach with rescued, formerly abused and neglected dogs is to teach empathy....which we hope leads to responsibility and stewardship.

We only teach with rescued dogs, dogs that may even have the physical scars of abuse and cruelty. These dogs immediately elicit emotions of empathy but also reverence. We can't teach without them. Here's Frito former resident of Montgomery County Animal shelter.

Launching this fall. Very excited to build our teams of dogs and instructors to work with adults in leadership roles. Canine-assisted leadership and human skills training that transforms how your team leads, communicates and collaborates.

Our buddy Jagger worked with us over 10 years ago at Harris County Juvenile Probation Department facilities. This year we celebrate 16 years of this rewarding partnership where kids learn resilience, loyalty, trust, courage and empathy from the most amazing rescued dogs like Jagger.

When the staff gets to hold the pups! Dobby's first Healing Species class. He was adorable. Thank you Patrick and Nadine for your help today and sharing this doll baby.

We are teaching in places where kids and adults are struggling. It could be homelessness, neglect, financial or just plain stress of circumstances. Our pups "read the room" and I'm just so grateful our instructors do the same. Watched someone brag about their vacation plans to a group of underprivileged kids in an adjacent class and it broke my heart. Read the room is a meaningful statement. See with your heart.
