Success starts with opportunity.
Across Alabama, classrooms are helping students discover their strengths, explore career pathways, and gain valuable experience before they graduate. Through hands-on learning and partnerships with industry leaders, students are building the confidence and skills needed to thrive after graduation.
Alabama’s educators are creating opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom and helping students turn their goals into reality.

Today, I had the opportunity to watch the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, Subcommittee on Education & the American Family hearing titled “The Future of K-12 Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.”
The hearing was chaired by Senator Tuberville with Ranking Member Senator Blunt Rochester and focused on how artificial intelligence is already reshaping K-12 education—what it can improve, where it introduces risk, and how schools and policymakers can respond responsibly.
Josh Jones, CEO of QuantHub and ALSDE partner; Cindy Marten, Secretary of Education for the Delaware Department of Education; and Erin Mote, CEO of InnovateEDU and EDSAFE AI Alliance participated in the hearing as witnesses.
Senators and witnesses discussed the use the AI with a clear theme — innovation in education must move forward, but it must do so with strong safeguards and a steady focus on students and teachers at the center of every decision.

Strong workforce development depends on close collaboration between education and industry. During a recent visit to Mobile, Deputy State Superintendent Angela Martin and I met with representatives from the Mobile Chamber and industry partners including Airbus to discuss CTE. Modern career and technical programs integrate cutting-edge technology, industry-recognized credentials, and real-world experience aligned directly with labor market needs.
