The Alabama State University Department of Theatre Arts has received national recognition as the recipient of the 2026 URTA Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Training in Acting, an honor presented by the University Resident Theatre Association that recognizes institutions whose students demonstrate exceptional skill, professionalism, and preparation.

This prestigious award reflects the dedication of our faculty, staff, and students who continue to inspire creativity and excellence while preparing the next generation of theatre artists and professionals.
