Today, the cadets of Mountaineer Challenge Academy Class 1-2026 successfully completed their 5th Progress Reporting Period! This important milestone reflects their continued growth, dedication, discipline, and hard work throughout the program.

Parents, guardians, and friends gathered to celebrate this special ceremony and support the cadets before they begin their second leave. Seeing the encouragement from family and loved ones reminds our cadets that they have a strong support system cheering them on every step of the way.

We are proud of all they have accomplished so far and look forward to watching them continue to succeed as they move closer to graduation. Keep up the great work, Class 1-2026!

The Ecology Club visited Point Pleasant in Mason County to participate in several Service to Community (S2C) activities. The cadets landscaped several areas throughout the town, supporting the Tu-Endie-Wei State Park/Garden Club, The Sons of the American Revolution, and The Daughters of the American Revolution. Furthermore, cadets learned about the Battle of Point Pleasant, Revolutionary War cannon operations, the Silver Bridge disaster, and even visited Mothman. Lastly, the cadets toured the Mason County Farm Museum to learn about our cultural heritage.

The Ecology Club assisted personnel from the Morris Creek Watershed and the Ernie Nester Trout Unlimited Chapter in a stream study at Morris Creek. Cadets learned about stream ecology through electrofishing. This scientific survey method uses a direct current (DC) to temporarily stun fish, allowing researchers to capture, study, and release them to manage fish populations. The cadets enjoyed the experience and learned a great deal. MUCH THANKS to the MCWS and Ernie Nester Trout Unlimited personnel Doug Chambers.
