Enlisted Heritage Hall marks 40 years of chronicling Air Force legacy 05/05/2026

The Enlisted Heritage Hall, located on Gunter Annex, marked the 40th anniversary with a commemorative event, May 1, 2026. The hall serves as a central repository for the stories and sacrifices of the Airmen who form the backbone of the force. It originally began as a small collection of artifacts in the hallways of the Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy before being officially dedicated on May 2, 1986. It is the U.S. Air Force’s only museum solely dedicated to the history of its enlisted corps.

The Margin That Executes: How the Senior NCO Academy Sharpens Warfighting Judgment Across 03/19/2026

As the Department of War prioritizes restoring readiness, strengthening institutional resilience and maintaining decisive military advantage, senior enlisted leaders serve as a critical link between strategy and ex*****on. They enforce standards that protect trust, sustain morale during prolonged competition and ensure readiness is verified rather than assumed.

The Margin That Executes: How the Senior NCO Academy Sharpens Warfighting Judgment Across Deterrence is sustained long before a crisis unfolds. It is reinforced in how units train, how standards are enforced and how clearly leaders translate guidance into action. At Maxwell Air Force

Our namesake's graduating class. 53 years later, and still going strong.

On This Day in Air Force Enlisted History ✈️📚

📅 9 January 1973 marked a milestone for enlisted professional development as the first Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy (SNCOA) class began. Just weeks later, on 3 March 1973, 120 graduates crossed the stage—launching a new era of senior enlisted leadership education.

Among that inaugural class were three Airmen who would go on to shape the entire enlisted force as Chief Master Sergeants of the Air Force:
• Thomas N. Barnes
• James M. McCoy
• Sam E. Parish

What began as a bold experiment in senior enlisted education became a proving ground for the highest levels of enlisted leadership. The legacy of that first SNCOA class lives on today—in every senior leader and every Airman shaped by PME.

From one classroom in 1973 to the force of today—leadership starts with education.

Barnes Center Headquarters personnel came together today for a pre-Thanksgiving potluck, organized by the staff of the Enlisted Professional Military Education Instructor Course. We also said farewell to our Senior Enlisted Leader CMSgt Sean Ellenburg, as he prepares to depart for a new assignment.

As we head into the holiday season, remember that events like these are important. They foster unit camaraderie and cohesion, boost morale and performance, create a sense of belonging, and ultimately support mental health. Plus... there's always pie at a Thanksgiving potluck.
