Halloween Expectations
Greetings Long Beach Families,
I wanted to reach out to you today to ensure that I communicate to you the plans for our Long Beach Halloween Costume Parade and class parties, that will be held on Friday, October 30th. I understand that you may have a costume ready for our Trunk or Treat this Friday, however, these guidelines are specific to our school parade and class parties.
The Halloween Parade of Costumes will begin at 2:15 pm. We will monitor the weather the day of the parade and as long as we can, we will hold our parade outside, walking around the building. In the event that we have inclement weather, we would need to move the parade into the gym. More details will come out as we get closer to the date.
A reminder for Halloween costumes for our students:
Please review the following costume guidelines with your students BEFORE you go out to buy a costume. Students with inappropriate costumes will not be permitted to wear them at school. The following costume guidelines must be followed for safety reasons, time constraints, and appropriateness.
โข Students are expected to be Culturally sensitive to the times we are in today, as we want this day and these events to be fun, enjoyable and memorable for all of our students.
โข Absolutely NO toy or pretend weapons of any kind, such as guns, knives, swords, spears, etc. will be allowed.
โข Absolutely NO costumes depicting violence, including fake blood.
โข Please have your child bring his/her costume to school in a bag. Students may NOT wear their costumes to school.
โข Students may NOT bring aerosol sprays, such as hair sprays or colorings.
โข Students should be able to put on their costumes with minimal help. There will be some adults available to provide assistance, but NOT to apply make-up or style hair, etc.
After the costume parade, our students will return to their classroom for class parties. Class parties are scheduled from 2:45-3:30. Only the room parents assigned to this event are allowed into the classrooms. All room parents that are scheduled to volunteer MUST check into the main office before going to classrooms - please bring your valid driverโs license or state ID to check in. Room parents are not allowed to bring in any other siblings into the classrooms, and there is NO FOOD of any kind that can be brought in and distributed - per district policy.
If your student does not participate in any Halloween activities, please communicate this to your studentโs homeroom teacher, as we will have an alternate location and activity for students.
Thank you for your partnership in helping promote a safe and fun event for our students!
