We loved participating in the Wellness in Action 5K and Festival today. πββοΈ πͺ΄ It was a beautiful day to raise awareness about Type II Diabetes in the 29203 community.
π Our program ran a sneaker drive to help ensure any of our community members who wanted to get active had a good pair of shoes to get moving!
We collaborated with the CC Environmental Science Club to grow seedlings to distribute to festival goers to grow their own healthy food. Vienne Geren spearheaded this work! π±
Thanks to all who came out!

We had a great day volunteering with our friends at JP Thomas Elementary School on Wednesday for their annual Earth Day- Community Garden Day.
Each year on or around Earth Day, JPTES sponsors a community gardening day- where their Urban Farming Club, Girls in STEM, Safety and Safety Patrol work alongside community members and volunteers to expand and prepare their beds for the Spring/Summer growing season.
Our students installed some garden boxes on JPTES campus in the fall as part of our Partners in Peace project with and the . It was great to get back to JP Thomas this spring!

conference recap Day 1- City As Text, conference sessions and Presidentβs Reception.
We explored downtown Montgomery, Alabama and visited some of the most important spaces for the Civil Rights Movement. We explored the Rosa Parks Museum and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice with many downtown stops along the way.
Following invigorating conference sessions in the afternoon, we met Dr Z for pizza and headed to the Presidentβs reception for dessert and dancing. Some of us even got called up on stage to be part of the fun! πΆ π·
