The Oak Hills Lions 7th and 8th Grade White Teams hosted the Magnolia Bulldogs yesterday afternoon in two thrilling back-to-back games!
The 7th Grade White Team came away with an exciting 24–20 victory in a game filled with big plays on both sides of the ball.
Odin Cline and Dylan Whiteley got the Lions' offense rolling with several explosive runs, setting up the first score of the game. Lucas Cardiff powered his way into the end zone on an 18-yard touchdown run and followed it up by drilling the PAT through the uprights.
Cline continued to make his presence felt on defense, coming up with a huge fourth-down stop just before halftime. Whiteley capped off the Lions' scoring with touchdown runs of 28 and 55 yards, both made possible by excellent blocking from the offensive line. Cardiff added both PATs to secure the 24–20 Lions victory.
The 8th Grade White Team closed out the afternoon with a hard-fought 8–6 victory over the Bulldogs.
Anthony Caridi scored the Lions' lone touchdown on a 55-yard touchdown pass from Colton Bancroft. The big play was set up by tough blocking from the offensive line and hard running by The Jackson “Clark Kent” Melley. Asher Burdick added the PAT to give the Lions the lead.
A huge shoutout goes to Messiah Coleman and Luke Fruge for their outstanding blocking on offense and key tackles on defense. Thor Cline and Jackson Fabre were all over the field making plays, while Isaac Liczwek came up with two forced fumbles.
Joshua Knapp made a huge touchdown-saving tackle, and Anthony Caridi sealed the victory with a game-clinching interception.
Congratulations to both 7th and 8th Grade White Teams on a great afternoon of football! The Lions showed toughness, discipline, big-play ability, and a team-first mentality from start to finish. Great job, Lions!
