Game over โ€” the Crook has been found! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿคฉ The Foundersโ€™ Day Committee congratulates Emmie Koehn, Hadley Spreng, Olivia Lepczyk, Luke McVeigh, Carson Moses and Pat Walston on a job well done. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›

Let's take a look at our clue: "Before they lived among the flowers, another doorstep welcomed them home. The home has changed, but their names still stand around us."

This year, the Crook was hidden at Palmer Hall. The first home for two of UM's presidents โ€” Peterson and Palmer โ€” was located on King Quad where the sculpture, "Becoming," now stands. A fire destroyed the home and Flowerhill was constructed and opened in 1926 โ€” 100 years ago!

In 1926, the seniors at Alabama College, now the University of Montevallo, started a unique tradition. Finding the Crook (a large wooden walking stick) marked the transition from junior to senior. Over the years, this tradition has changed, and now โ€œFinding the Crookโ€ is open to all students. This tradition serves as an important part of the history of UM. Each year, the Crook is hidden on campus with clues to its location released each day leading up to Foundersโ€™ Day. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›

Today is the first day of searching! Here's clue #1:

"Before they lived among the flowers, another doorstep welcomed them home. The home has changed, but their names still stand around us."

Upon discovery of the Crook, students should take it to the President's Office in Calkins Hall to be recognized as winners. Please note that the Crook is hidden outdoors, and that searching groups are to be no larger than four people. Happy hunting!
