Building financial skills together!

More than 20 Evans College Incentive Program students joined the September 30th Budgeting Workshop, the first in the 4 Pillars of Financial Literacy series. Through breakout discussions and hands-on budgeting scenarios, students practiced making thoughtful financial decisions and planning for everyday expenses.

Thank you to the Undocumented Resource Center for hosting and providing pizza, United Way Monterey County, and MPC Student Financial Services for partnering on this opportunity. We look forward to the next workshop!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the William McCaskey and Adaline Dinsmore Chapman Foundation for their generous $30,000 grant in support of MPC’s Upward Bound Program.

MPC’s Upward Bound Program helps first-generation college and low-income high school students build the skills and confidence they need to complete high school and pursue a college education. Through academic support, tutoring, counseling, college campus visits, summer programming, and educational and cultural experiences, students are given valuable opportunities to explore what is possible for their futures.

This generous support helps provide students with opportunities and resources that make a lasting difference as they prepare for college and beyond.

Yesterday, Samuel Balesteri visited an MPC EMS class to present an additional $2,000 gift to the Sam Saves A Life Scholarship. This scholarship, which Sam established at MPCF in 2023, helps students who face difficulty covering the upfront costs of EMT training.
Thank you, Samuel and Susan, for helping future emergency responders take this step toward their careers!

MPC students pursuing EMT, Fire Academy, or Nursing training may also be eligible for support through the Honor Grants program. 💙 Investing in MPC students and their futures! 🐺✨

The MPC Foundation is incredibly grateful to the Pebble Beach Company Foundation for a generous $9,500 grant in support of the Evans College Incentive Program!

This fall, the MPC Foundation is proud to welcome the 12th group of Evans Scholars to MPC. What began as an idea has grown into a program with an extraordinary record of impact: more than 600 students have had their lives touched by this program over the years, and more than 100 have graduated and transferred to four-year universities.
Support from community partners like the Pebble Beach Company Foundation helps us continue creating opportunities, removing financial barriers, and encouraging MPC students as they work toward their educational and career goals.

We would like to thank and acknowledge our community partner, American Water Charitable Foundation, for granting us $25,000 to the Foundation’s exciting new Honor Grant program!

One of our student recipients, Elisa, shares, “When I learned that I had been selected for an Honor Grant, I honestly did not know what to say. I felt grateful. I felt humbled. Most of all, I felt seen. Like so many students at MPC, I have worked hard to get to this point. There are moments when you wonder whether you can keep going. Receiving this grant tells me something very important… that people I have never met believe in me.”

💙 Grateful to be part of some GREAT news!

The MPC Foundation is honored to have our new Honor Grant Program featured in the GREAT WEEK section of our own local Monterey County Weekly newspaper. Swipe left to see some moments of last week’s press conference.

MPC Foundation’s New Honor Grant Program

The last few weeks have been incredible at the MPC Foundation!
🎉 Our team has been working hard to launch an exciting new program designed to support our amazing students. We’re so excited to share what we’ve been building. Watch the video to hear how students are feeling real relief thanks to the financial support and how it’s making a difference in their lives!

The Honor Grant program is a bold new initiative supporting students in Nursing, Fire Technology, and Emergency Medical Services with up to $10,000 per academic year to help cover the costs of completing their education. After graduating and beginning their careers, recipients give back through monthly donations, creating a cycle of generosity that supports future students.

We recently completed our first application cycle where we received 27 applications from aspiring nurses and firefighters and interviewed 24 exceptional students. After thoughtful deliberation, we were able to award Honor Grants to 14 students (12 Nursing students and 2 Fire Science students). Choosing among such an outstanding group was no easy task, and it reinforced just how great the need is for this program.
