We would love to welcome back our volunteer coordinator Kaila Ruan!

She is back for her third year on the PTA board, and she is excited to help make the PTA bigger and better than it was last year.

Kids and grades: Lani 12th grade, Randi 6th grade, Javi 3rd grade, and baby Laila.

Why did you choose to join the PTA board? I really believe great things are never done by one person….they’re done by a team of people…and I love being on that team! P.S. If you want to be on that team too…we are always looking for more volunteers! ;^)

What’s one PTA event you’re most excited about this year? The book fair or Penny Wars. Both are so much fun!

What’s your favorite local spot? Lovers Point

What would your kids say you’re really good at? They said giving snuggles and typing on a computer.

We’re excited to introduce Cambria, our PTA Membership Chair!

Cambria is new to the Monterey area, but her enthusiasm for getting involved started long before she arrived. She signed up to join the PTA Board before she even moved here!

We love her heart for serving and can’t wait for our La Mesa community to get to know her.

Why she joined the PTA:
“My grandfather was always the first to volunteer to help in his community. He modeled for us the value in showing up. In my own small way, I want to show up at La Mesa and continue that legacy for my kids.”

We’re excited to introduce Ashley, our PTA Secretary!

Ashley is a lifelong educator with nearly 25 years of experience in teaching.

She brings a wealth of knowledge in bilingual education and as a fun bonus, she’s also a talented Chinese calligrapher!

“I want to be more involved in building a strong, supportive school community for our kids. I really value the connection between families, teachers, and the school, and I’m excited to help create a positive experience for both students and parents.”

Organizing everything, helping with school projects, making sure everyone is taken care of, and encouraging others when things feel challenging.

We’re taking a quick break from PTA board introductions because we’re hoping to fill a a few board positions!

Most importantly the fundraising chair position!

As our Fundraising Chair, you’ll help coordinate Shark Bite Nights (our restaurant fundraiser nights where local businesses donate a portion of the proceeds back to our school), connect with local businesses, and help organize other exciting fundraising opportunities throughout the year.
