Meet our newest instructor at the Lyceum of Monterey County: Ryan Solymar! He will be teaching our Arduino Robotics and LEGO Robotics Summer Camps (there is still one spot open in the Arduino Robotics Camp)!! He works at CSUMB as a lecturer for the Robotics class and other classes in the Marine Science department. Ryan is a mentor in Dr. Jorgensen’s Ocean Predator Ecology Lab which focuses on great white shark ecology. Ryan also works as a research scientist for the Water, Agricultural Technology & Remote Sensing lab which is part of NASA’s Ames Research Center. Ryan loves working with ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles)! In grad school Ryan developed a method to create 3D models of shipwrecks using video footage collected with an ROV! This photo of Ryan is from ROV footage! Fun fact: Ryan worked down in San Felipe, Mexico for a month to aid in removal of fishing nets in the ocean. Removing these nets helps protect the critically endangered Vaquita!
