Something special happens when kids get their hands in the soil. 🌱

In our gardening program at Great Beginnings Early Learning Center, children plant, tend, and harvest together while building real skills along the way. This kind of hands-on exploration is at the heart of our nature preschool approach, where early childhood education happens through teamwork, curiosity, and outdoor discovery. Little ones practice patience and communication, while older children in our pre kindergarten program connect garden lessons to early science and kindergarten prep.

Our garden time grows with each age group:
🌿 Toddlers explore textures and sensory play
🌿 Preschoolers learn responsibility by caring for plants
🌿 Older kids dig into nature-based problem solving

A good read-aloud can settle a whole room. 📚

In our preschool classrooms, story time is part of early childhood education: children practice listening, learn new words, notice feelings in characters, and build the focus they need for pre kindergarten and kindergarten prep. Even the fish tanks become conversation starters, which fits our nature preschool approach and keeps curiosity close to the surface.

This fall, families around the Monterey Peninsula are getting back into routines, and our days are built to feel steady and warm:
👉 toddler program moments that support language and gentle independence
👉 creative choices after stories, from drawing to music
👉 outdoor time that connects books to gardens, seasons, and wonder
