Have you checked your email lately? Since Summer 2022, password requirements changed and multi-factor authentication is now required to access your email. Scroll through for support on how to make sure you maintain access to your email and view the helpful videos!

📌Counseling appointment confirmations are sent to your school email which means that you might be missing details like date, time and modality of your appointment.

📌You will also miss emails from important offices like Financial Aid and Admissions without checking your email.

WHAT IS A “W”?

A “W” is an administrative symbol assigned to a student’s permanent record for all classes which a student has dropped or has been excluded from by the instructor after the end of the non-penalty drop date, but by the last day to drop which is 75% of the term. The class will still appear on your record, but there will not be a letter grade to affect your GPA.

🙋‍♂️NOT SURE IF YOU SHOULD DROP A CLASS?

Discuss your options one of our counselors through Live Chat Counseling to see if dropping a class is the best option for you or schedule an appointment to determine how the course will impact your Student Educational Plan.

📌 REMINDERS

✨Counseling appointments are booked beginning at 7:30am on Fridays to schedule for the following week.

✨May 8, 2022 is the deadline for 16 week classes, for a specific drop date for your class check your course details.

✨Classes are dropped via your student portal and it is important to check with the ELAC Office of Financial Aid if you would like to know how drooping a course might impact your funding.

✨The Spring 2022 Graduation Ceremony will be in-person on Tuesday, June 7! ✨Please note the deadlines below if you intend to participate and have not yet submitted a graduation/degree petition:

📌For your name to appear in the printed program at the graduation ceremony, meet with a counselor to submit a graduation/degree petition by Friday, April 22, 2022

📌If you miss the deadline above, you can still participate in graduation (without your name in the program) as long as you meet with a counselor to submit a graduation/degree petition by Friday, May 6, 2022

Hello, meet Counselor Carmen Soto 👋🏼

Dr. Carmen Soto is a first-generation college graduate and loves her job as a counselor. She credits the support of her family and the courage to take risks in helping her achieve her own goals and seeks to inspire ELAC students to reach theirs ✨💫

Outside of ELAC, she enjoys traveling and now that it is Springtime, Dodger baseball ⚾️ .  A few of her recommendations for involvement at ELAC include exploring the Honors Program, the , , updating your resume with and and getting support through on your assignments 🎓

Counselor Soto transferred from a community college to Loyola Marymount University and earned a B.A. degree in Sociology. She then earned a Master of Education degree and Doctor of Education both from the University of Southern California ✌🏼💛♥️
