We know it’s only June, but enrolling early gives families plenty of time to complete the process and helps our schools process enrollments gradually instead of during a mad rush in August.

Today, the Colorado Department of Education announced its semifinalists for 2027
Colorado Teacher of the Year. The department’s 21 semifinalists represent 21 schools from 18 Colorado school districts and one charter school. This group of semifinalists has at least one candidate from every region in Colorado.
The 21 semifinalists were selected from a pool of 297 Teacher of the Year applicants from 76 school districts. The semifinalist selection process included a review committee of more than 40 people, including previous Colorado Teacher of the Year winners, Colorado Department of Education staff, and representatives from the Boettcher Foundation, the lead sponsor of the Colorado Teacher of the Year program.
Our own Monte Vista High School science and math teacher, Ms. Emma DeHerrera, was selected as a semifinalist! To be nominated is an honor in itself but to make it to this point in the selection process is astounding. Emma is a role model for our students inside and outside the classroom. Please congratulate her on the accomplishment and cheer her on as moves forward with next steps!

Hello Parents,

Open Gym for Boys Basketball will begin this Wednesday from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. All returning players and incoming freshmen are welcome to attend.

I will let everyone know where Open Gym will be held prior to Wednesday, so please watch for updates.

We will also be discussing summer camp opportunities. The ASU Basketball Camp in Alamosa will be held June 4th–6th. If your son plans to attend the ASU Camp, he must be present at Open Gym on Wednesday.

Additionally, the Gunnison Basketball Camp is scheduled for June 19th–21st. If your son plans to attend the Gunnison Camp, please reach out to the coaches as soon as possible so we can finalize arrangements.

If you plan to participate in any sport during the 2026–27 school year, you must have an updated CHSAA physical on file before you may practice. CHSAA physical forms are available in the high school office on Wednesdays from 8:00 AM–12:00 PM. thrughout the summer. You must use the official CHSAA physical form when you get your exam.

Monte Vista Baseball is one win away from the 2A State Championship Game! Monte Vista will play the winner of Yuma vs. Denver Christian at 12:30 PM on Friday, 05/29/2026 at Runyon Field in Pueblo.

Send-off: Friday morning at 7:00 AM. Come out and send the team off as their quest for a state title continues!
