Over the last two weeks, our design team has been very busy improving our face shields! We now have two improved designs to offer: our original design with an open top, and our origami-style design with a closed top.

Both of these designs are simpler, more effective and easier to produce than what we started with. We're now producing over 1,000 face shields per day, and delivering daily to an ever-expanding set of regional hospitals and medical centers in desperate need of protection.

These designs didn't appear overnight! It took a large team of collaborators and many iterations, hacking maker communities and supply chains and to arrive at this design. Learn more about the story in our latest video!

- Delivered 525 face shields to Hackensack Meridian Palisades Hospital.
- Delivered 75 face shields to Mountainside Hospital + 150 custom 3D printed ear protectors.

The lab would like to introduce another inspiring feature, Asha Ganpat. She is a professor here at MSU but is also an incredible Trinidadian-American conceptual artist. Ganpat works in a wide range of traditional and non-traditional media including paper, lace, metal, gold, light and sound. We have been excited to see the beautiful designs she has created and printed on the lab's laser cutters. She hopes to experiment with different canvases to print on like leather, fabric, as well as ceramic dishware. We can not wait to see what Asha does next.
