Montclair Side Door

Quick reminder: Side Door is CLOSED Friday March 11th. (This week is MSU Spring Break and most of our student volunteers will be out of town...)

Quick reminder: Even if we are scheduled to be open, if Montclair public schools are closed due to weather, or if after school activities are cancelled, then Side Door is closed that day as well.

We are excited to announce that Side Door will be open spring 2022 starting Friday February 4 and running through May 20. We will be CLOSED: March 11, April 15, and April 22.

Many activities will be outside, so dress warmly! There will also be activities inside, but well-fitting masks will be required at all times. While the weather is cold we will officially close at 4 pm, but students can remain on-site until 5 pm IF prior arrangements are made ([email protected]).

Side Door is CLOSED 12/10. On 12/17 there will be Zoom Side Door (still lots of games and fun activities, just don't have to deal with weather and early sunset). Email [email protected] for zoom invite.

So far we've had three Fridays of awesome fun. The weather has been beautiful and it has really been wonderful to see all the kids running around and having a blast. If you know any Montclair middle school students, tell them to swing by 176 Cooper Ave this Friday and see what all the fun is about!!

Side Door will be opening for its 19th year on September 24th!!! Activities will be mostly outside... looking forward to meeting all the new kids!!!

Another year of Side Door (and Zoom Side Door) has come to an end. It's always so hard to say good bye to our 8th graders, especially the ones who stuck with us these last 2 years as our lives turned upside down. We hope you found friendship and community and we will miss you! And we have to say a sad farewell as well to our graduating MHS and MSU volunteers. Each of you has had an impact on: kids' lives, the Side Door program, the greater Montclair community... and most of all on the staff. We will miss all of you terribly - stop in to say 'hi' if you're ever around.

THIS Friday 5/21 is our FINAL in-person Side Door for this year. OF COURSE we have something really special planned...

Next Friday 5/28 there will be NO Side Door. 6/4 - 6/18 we will meet via Zoom. Email [email protected] for the zoom link.

Weather permitting, Side Door will meet IN PERSON for the next 6 Fridays (4/16 - 5/21). All activities will be outside, and masks and social distancing will be required. Parents MUST pre-register their child and complete a brief health survey. For more info, email [email protected].

Now that winter is (almost?) over, we are starting to think about being in-person on Friday afternoons. After Spring Break ends, we are hoping to hop off zoom for a few weeks -- beginning (fingers crossed) on 4/16 and continuing through 5/21. Parents will have to pre-register (ie answer a health survey) each week, we'll be outside only and wearing masks and observing social distancing BUT we will ACTUALLY BE TOGETHER!!! Can't wait.
