Class Description:
Unleash the writer within! In this fun, highly interactive workshop you'll experience the thrill of creating prompt-based mini-plays and learn the mechanics of developing longer works with solid structure, compelling characters and crackling dialogue. The workshop culminates in a live in-person, staged reading where your work will be featured! You'll also learn the ins and outs of how to submit your work to the hundreds of theatre festivals actively going on today. This workshop is run by Alex Bernstein, award-winning author of Miserable Love Stories, staff writer for Discovery Kids' The Dog & Pony Show, and co-founder of the Curtains on Fire writer's workshop.
About the teacher:
Alex Bernstein is the award-winning author of the Miserable series of books (Miserable Adventure Stories, Miserable Holiday Stories, Miserable Love Stories), and Plrknib. He's written for Disney Junior's P. King Duckling and is a staff writer for Discovery Kids' The Dog & Pony Show. He's co-founder of the Curtains on Fire writer's workshop. His work has appeared at McSweeney’s, NewPopLit, The Big Jewel, The American Bystander, Yankee Pot Roast, Cincinnati Magazine, USA Today Magazine, Swink, Litro, Back Hair Advocate, Corvus, BluePrintReview, Hobo Pancakes, Gi60, The Rumpus, The Legendary, MonkeyBicycle, and PopImage, among numerous others.
