Get ready for a full week of incredible live jazz at Montclair… Our Combo Fest is almost here!

Join us starting Monday, April 20 at 8PM in Leshowitz Recital Hall for Night 1 featuring the Red Hawk Big Band + Jazz Combos. It’s just the beginning of a week packed with amazing performances from our talented students.

The Montclair State Jazz Ensemble, Directed by Dr. Oscar Perez, returns to the iconic Dizzy’s Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center on Tuesday, April 14!

We are thrilled to feature special appearances by legendary Trombonist Steve Turre and Vocamotion (Directed by Aubrey Johnson). Join us for a night of world-class music as we take over the stage for two high-energy sets!

Good evening to our Jazz community! We have very exciting news! We are hosting a new jam session starting tomorrow night at Trend Coffee & Tea House! ☕️

We are scheduled to hold this jam every other Wednesday from 8pm to 11pm beginning with this week’s rhythm section is:

Karen Xie on keyboard
Dom Carnaval on bass
Larry Davis on drums.

Faculty guest: on saxophone 🎷

Good evening to all of our jazz community, in case if you missed today, we held our amazing masterclass with our faculty and Jazz Legend, Billy Hart. 🥁✨

It was composed of many informative discussions for jazz drummers and instrumentalists to learn how rhythm plays a huge role within jazz performances. We had some faculty and students play with Mr. Hart. Thank you again to Mr. Billy Hart for helping our Jazz community learn & grow.

This Monday at 2pm in Leshowitz Recital Hall, we are thrilled to present a masterclass with NEA Jazz Master and Montclair State Jazz Studies Drumset Faculty, Maestro Billy Hart!
Having played with artists such as McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, Wes Montgomery, Wayne Shorter, and Stan Getz, in addition to playing on over 600 records over the past 60+ years, Professor Hart is one of the most influential and inspirational voices in Jazz.
Now in his fourth year at The Cali School, Professor Hart has shaped the lives and careers of many of our students. Don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to witness a true Giant of the Jazz in this intimate and electrifying setting!
This is a free event, open to all (not limited to drummers) no tickets required. Arrive early to guarantee a seat!

Happy Monday to you all! Save the date of our special Mid-Semester Jazz showcase happening this week on Wednesday ( March 4th ) at 8 pm in Room 201. We have a treat for you with several of our combos and large ensembles performing selective repertoire that you get to hear live!

This event is 100% free, no tickets are required. But spots are limited, so make sure come early to save yourself a seat! We hope to see you there!
