July 16 is National AI Day!

Artificial Intelligence has been around longer than most people realize. In fact, mathematician John McCarthy coined the term in 1956 while promoting a summer research project at Dartmouth College. Some of the brightest minds in computing and cognitive science at the time gathered to create systems that could mimic the human thought process, including solving problems and improving learning. The result: they launched a new global field of science!

Progress with AI stalled in the 1970s and 1980s due to limited advancements in computing power, however, recent increases in data, more powerful hardware, and advanced algorithmic approaches have brought AI back to the forefront. And the development of large language models, like Gemini and ChatGPT, introduced generative AI to the general public, demonstrating its incredible potential for creativity and human-like interaction.

Love it or hate it, AI is here to stay and will continue to evolve as a part of our digital lives. How do you use it?
