The Parkside Montessori School

This week at the art table, the children created optional projects inspired by our study of flowers, butterflies, and the food pyramid.

This week, the Parkside students continued their study of the human body and were introduced to the Food Pyramid. Our caterpillars are now in their chrysalises, and we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our butterflies! The children also enjoyed a puppet show and were excited for our annual Parkside Museum Walk. In playground news, our baby robins have officially flown the nest! The children truly enjoyed observing and learning about the cycle of life right outside our classroom.

New and old faces from the Parkside team came together today to celebrate our founder, Gingi, ahead of her 80th birthday!

Gingi is a force of nature who has poured her heart, vision, and endless energy into making Parkside something truly special. She has touched the lives of so many students, families, and staff members over the years.

We are all so incredibly grateful for everything she’s done. Happy birthday, Gingi!

This week at the art table, the children created artwork inspired by our study of flowers.

This week, children on Side 1 continued their study of the continents and the different systems of the body. They also learned about the life cycle of a butterfly and were introduced to cheese cutting. On Side 2, children explored the senses and continued their study of the body.

We were also excited to discover that a robin has built her nest in one of our playground trees! The children have been carefully observing how hard the mother and father robins work to care for and feed their babies. It has been a wonderful real-life connection to our bird study from earlier this spring.

This week, the children worked on a variety of optional art projects inspired by our study of the continents, the human body, the lifecycle of a butterfly, and spring.

This week, children on Side 1 continued their study of the continents, continent animals, and worked on the Africa page for their Continent Books. Children on Side 2 began their study of the body, beginning with the skeletal, muscular, and digestive systems. We also received our Painted Lady caterpillars! The children were excited to learn about the lifecycle of a butterfly and are enthusiastically monitoring the growth of our squirmy new friends.

This week at the art table, students on Side 1 began their Continent Books. Other art projects this week were inspired by our study of flowers and the Maypole.

This week, the students continued their study of the continents. Side 1 was introduced to bread cutting and coffee grinding, and learned about North America, South America, and Europe. Side 2 was introduced to cheese cutting and reviewed information about all seven continents and the animals that inhabit them. The children also had a lot of fun dancing around the Maypole!
