This month, we’re diving into 1,000 Hours Outside by Ginny Yurich—and you’re invited to come along for the adventure! We will explore these fun, fresh-air activities and share ideas on how to implement them with the goal of getting our families outdoors more often.

No pressure, no homework—just a relaxed space to gather, share ideas, swap stories, and encourage one another in the beautiful (and sometimes messy!) journey of homeschooling and family life.

Come connect, be inspired, and leave with fresh ideas to bring a little more sunshine into your days.

We will explore these fun, fresh-air activities and share ideas on how to implement them with the goal of getting our families outdoors more often.

March Field Trip
March 5 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Join us on a guided tour at the Nimbus Fish Hatchery to learn more about salmon, steelhead, and the amazing American River! We will explore the Nimbus Visitor Center, the American River Discovery Trail, and the hatchery raceways. During the tour, we will cover the life cycle and biology of steelhead trout, their habitat needs, and human impact on riparian ecosystems.

Tour is 90 minutes from 12pm-1:30pm. We will meet in the parking lot at 11:45am.

March through October is non-peak season and our fish ladder is closed during this time. During shoulder season months (i.e. March or October), you can expect to see adult fish in the American River adjacent to the fish hatchery. While this is a slower time at the hatchery, juvenile fish can still be observed in our raceways (concrete holding ponds) and fish food is offered to tour groups.

February Book Club
Life in Five Senses
Mondays in February · 7–8pm · Relaxed · Interactive · No-pressure
We’re so excited to invite you to our next Book Club pick, Life in Five Senses by Gretchen Rubin.
In this beautiful and thought-provoking book, Rubin invites us to slow down and rediscover everyday joy by fully engaging our five senses—sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch. Through gentle reflection, practical ideas, and relatable stories, she reminds us that happiness isn’t always found in big life changes, but often in the small, sensory moments we rush past each day.
This book club is less about keeping up and more about connecting—with the book, with one another, and with the simple pleasures woven into our daily lives.
When: Starting February 9th
Time: Mondays at 7:00 PM
Duration: 3 Weeks
All are welcome! Even if you don’t finish the reading (or don’t read at all), you’re still invited to join the conversation. Come as you are, listen in, share when you feel led, and enjoy a cozy, encouraging space together.
