The Institute for Excellence in Writing has changed their accreditation program requirements a bit. As in the past, I renewed my accreditation by meeting the current requirements. This time I received an attractive certificate.

Apparently, the name of one of the classes I'm offering this year isn't working. The name of the class is "Reading Dick and Jane A literature class for junior high and high school students." The class involves reading some works by Charles DICKens and JANE Austen. My team and I are hypothesizing the parents are not reading past the title and are thinking of the old-time early readers of Dick and Jane. We tweaked the title a bit to:

Classic Literature and Writing
Charles Dickens & Jane Austen
Reading Dick and Jane
Junior and Senior High

Clearly not as much fun as the original title, but it might generate more interest.

For the fall, I excited to be teaching the following four classes, all at Excellence in Education (EIE) in Monrovia. My course descriptions are below. Please feel free to visit EIE's website (https://excellenceineducationhomeschooling.com) to find out about the variety of courses offered.

During the school year I noticed that most of the students were eager to finish up their classes for the day, so they could play games on the internet. Their summer goals match their daily goals, while I hope that their summer will be filled with more elevating endeavors. With the aforementioned in mind, I am offering 3 one hour courses for 8 weeks. Please see below. Additionally, as always, I am available for private tutoring on-line or in person.

My students and I are enjoying reading the autobiography, "Fierce," by Aly Raisman. Aly is a gold medal gymnast. My students and I have been visiting YouTube to see her performance and that of some of the other gymnasts she mentions in her book. We have also spiderwebbed a bit to look into men's gymnastics.

Reading an Elon Musk biography for the autobiography/biography class I'm teaching. I've never been into space travel...now I'm excited. While reading this engaging 2017 book, Elon Musk & the Quest for a Fantastic Future by Ashlee Vance, I began to inwardly cheer for the success of SpaceX. That's the thing about a well-written book. It draws the reader in and makes the reader interested and excited.
