Monrovia Satellite AJCC to Open May 13
New Partnership Means Improved Services for Job Seekers and Businesses
Monrovia AJCC Satellite is hosting an Open House on Friday, May 13 at 12:30 p.m. at the Monrovia Community Adult School (MCAS) to celebrate its new partnership with the LA County Workforce Development Board (County WDB) America’s Job Center of California (AJCC) system.
For nearly two decades, MCAS has operated a One-Stop Career Center that was part of the AJCC system. Now the Monrovia AJCC Satellite is a fresh brand operating under a new partnership with the County WDB which will significantly improve employment services for job seekers and businesses in Monrovia and beyond.
Throughout California, the AJCCs provide employment and training services under the authority of the California Workforce Development Board (CAWDB) which is responsible for “performing the duties and responsibilities required by the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 (WIOA),” according to the CAWDB website.
Using WIOA funds, the County WDB AJCC system provides career education, training programs, and support services so job seekers find life sustaining jobs. The AJCC system also offers subsidized wage programs, upskill training programs, employee recruitment services, and many other resources so businesses can hire and retain workers. Monrovia AJCC Satellite is part of the County WDB.
The Monrovia AJCC Satellite was created due to a partnership between the Monrovia Unified School District, the City of Monrovia, the Los Angeles County Workforce Development Board, and Managed Career Solutions.
You must register to attend the Open House.

On Wednesday, December 8, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Monrovia Community Adult school will be hosting the Monrovia Youth@Work Job Fair. The website for the event is https://tiktoktimetogettowork.com/ . This is a collaboration between MCAS and the Los Angeles County Workforce Development Board (WDB) that has been created by the efforts of Monrovia Councilmember Larry Spicer. Monrovia youth ages 14-24 can come to the event and interview for paid internships with over a dozen Monrovia businesses and non-profit organizations. The internships are paid for by WDB Youth@Work funds and provide our youth with 120 hours of paid work experience in an effort to get youth interested in potential career opportunities. The funds are meant to be targeted for Title I, Justice Involved, Homeless, and Foster youth, but youth may still attend if they do not necessarily fit into one of those categories. Carnival Food Truck will be providing food to the first 150 youth who register and arrive ready to interview!
