St Joseph Catholic School Monroeville St. Joseph strives to instill strong Catholic values and a superior education. In 1870 St. Joe’s was housed in a refurbished public school. The sister of St.

Established in 1862, Saint Joseph School has long served our community. In 1877 it was moved into the existing parish church. Francis took charge of the school in 1889. In 1896 The Precious Blood Sisters of Thompson directed the School, and in 1899 the Sisters of Notre Dame took charge. In 1910 a ne

w parish school, now our social center, was built for a total cost of $20,175.17. That was the case until 1961 when the Chapel street school was constructed. In 1993 the first lay principal directed the school. In 2005 the Preschool program was moved to the chapel street building and the middle school was moved to the second floor of the Social Center. In 2007 an afternoon/ after school extended child care program was started.
