💛CHARACTER IN ACTION AT MES!

At Monroeville Elementary School, our faculty, staff, and students are constantly working to build strong character through both teaching and modeling character education.

Our core values focus on Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, and School Pride, and through our Tiger S.T.R.I.V.E. framework, we encourage our students every day to:

🐯 S – Stay Focused
🐯 T – Take Responsibility
🐯 R – Respect Others
🐯 I – Inspire All
🐯 V – Value Education
🐯 E – Expect Success

We often tell our students that character is who you are when no one is watching—and when everyone is watching. It is reflected in the way you walk, the way you talk, the choices you make, and the way you live each day.

One of our students, Kahlani Lambert, recently demonstrated exactly what HONESTY, RESPONSIBILITY, and INTEGRITY look like!

Kahlani found more than $100, and really not knowing who the money belonged to, made the decision to turn it in. She could have easily walked away or made another choice, but instead, she chose to do what was right simply because it was the right thing to do.

As parents and educators, there are moments when we may wonder if the lessons we teach over and over are really making a difference.

Kahlani reminded us that they are! Our children are listening. They are learning….and most importantly, they are putting those lessons into action.

Last year, we implemented our MES Character T-Shirt Challenge. Students have an opportunity to earn shirts representing our four core values—Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, and School Pride. Any student who earns all four shirts will receive a $500 gift card! 🎉

But this challenge is about so much more than checking boxes or earning a prize. Character is not a checklist. It is what we practice day in and day out. It is who you are and what you choose to do even when no one is looking.

Kahlani is officially well on her way! 💙💛

As principal, I could not be more proud to present our VERY FIRST Character T-Shirt to a student who truly deserves it.

Congratulations, Kahlani Lambert! ❤️

You showed us what it means to Take Responsibility, Respect Others, Inspire All, and live with honesty and integrity.

You are a wonderful example of what our Tiger S.T.R.I.V.E. framework looks like in action, and we are so proud of you!

Keep STRIVING, Tigers! Character counts—every day, everywhere, and in everything we do! 💙💛🐯
