Do you love helping both people and pets? Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh is looking for compassionate, people-focused team members to join our Animal Welfare team at our North Side and East Side locations.

As an Animal Welfare Counselor, you'll play a vital role in creating successful matches between people and pets while supporting families through every step of the adoption and admissions process. You'll:
• Help adopters find the right companion for their home and lifestyle
• Guide families through admissions with empathy and care
• Share your knowledge of animal behavior and welfare
• Partner with our shelter teams to support the best outcomes for every animal
• Use Fear Free handling techniques to reduce stress and build trust

I am excited to welcome both new and returning students for the 2026–2027 school year! Whether you're beginning Year 1 or returning for Year 2 or 3, we have another great year of hands-on learning, animal care, career exploration, FFA opportunities, and veterinary science ahead of us.

The Longo crew is looking forward to Fall 2026!

Meet Grumpy, the newest addition! He is like Snow White, a lab animal critter.

Chomp the Tortoise hasn't been to school.

Willow the Ball Python hasn't been to school.

I hope to bring them all in at different times to help our hands-on curriculum.

The dogs...Ducky, Birdie, and Roxy are stir-crazy!

The cats of course, hide and want nothing to do with leaving the house 🏠!
