Please help us welcome Mr. Grant Olson to the Monroe Area High School family as our newest Math teacher! A proud 2019 MAHS alum and current Hurricanes baseball coach, Mr. Olson is excited to continue serving the school community both in the classroom and on the field. With a passion for helping students understand math and two years of experience in education, we are excited to see the impact he will make at MAHS. We are proud to have another Hurricane giving back to the next generation. Go Canes!

Monroe Area High School is excited to welcome Ms. Julie Elliott to Hurricane Nation as a Math Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year! 🌪️ Ms. Elliott brings 20 years of experience in education and a passion for helping students grow both academically and personally. She was drawn to MAHS because of the school’s strong sense of community and commitment to building meaningful relationships with students and families. A lifelong math lover, Ms. Elliott is excited to share her enthusiasm for the subject with her students this year. One of her favorite quotes is: “The enemy of the best is the good. Please join us in welcoming Master Sergeant Justin Harris to Monroe Area High School! Master Sergeant Harris brings 4 years of teaching experience and 20 years of coaching experience to Hurricane Nation. His favorite subject in school was History, and he is excited to become part of the Monroe community. When asked what attracted him to Monroe Area High School, he shared that he was looking for “a peaceful community with patriotic values.” His encouraging words for the 2026–2027 school year: “Wake up with purpose, teach with pride, and when the day is done, you will be at peace.” We are excited for Master Sergeant Harris to join the MAHS family!

Please join us in welcoming Ms. Blair Montgomery to Monroe Area High School! Ms. Montgomery will serve as the Special Education Instructional Specialist for the 2026–2027 school year and brings 27 years of educational experience to Hurricane Nation. Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to supporting students and teachers and values the strong relationships built in schools. She was drawn to MAHS by the people, the community, and the tradition of Hurricane Football, and she is excited to be part of Hurricane Nation alongside her husband, Coach Montgomery. We are excited to welcome Ms. Montgomery to the MAHS family!

Please join us in giving a warm Hurricane welcome to Ms. Paige Dawson, who will be joining Monroe Area High School as a Math teacher for the 2026–2027 school year! Ms. Dawson brings 11 years of classroom experience, having previously taught at Norcross High School and Dacula High School. Her passion for Math (and Anatomy!) and her commitment to student success make her a wonderful addition to our team. She is excited to be part of a smaller school community, build relationships with students and staff, and reconnect with good friends. Her advice for the year ahead: “Give everything your all, and you’ll live with no regrets!” We are excited to have you at MAHS, Ms. Dawson!

Please help us welcome Dr. Patrick Carter to Monroe Area High School as our new Assistant Principal! With more than 20 years of experience in education as a teacher, instructional leader, assistant principal, principal, and athletic director, Dr. Carter brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and passion for student success to Hurricane Nation.

Dr. Carter is committed to building strong relationships, supporting teachers, and creating a positive school culture where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. His leadership philosophy centers on visibility, consistency, accountability, and compassion, and we are excited for the impact he will make at MAHS.

Congratulations to our May Support Staff Members of the Month, Coach Coleman and Mr. Daniels! As graduation coaches, they work tirelessly behind the scenes to support students academically, motivate them to stay on track, and help them recover missing credits. They build strong relationships with students, staff, and families while going above and beyond, providing tutoring, communicating with parents, and offering daily encouragement. Their commitment to student success makes a lasting impact. Thank you, Coach Coleman and Mr. Daniels! While not pictured, Mr. Daniels plays an integral role on our team.

Please join us in congratulating Ms. Leatham Forrester on her new role as Instructional Coach at Monroe Area High School!

After 16 years in education, including time at both Carver Middle School and MAHS, Ms. Forrester will transition from the math classroom into a role where she will continue supporting students and staff across our school community.

Her passion for problem solving, collaboration, and student success make her a perfect fit for this position. We are excited to see the impact she will continue making at MAHS!

Mrs. Calicott builds strong relationships with her students, creates engaging learning experiences, and goes above and beyond to help students succeed. Her leadership and commitment to Monroe Area High School make a positive impact both inside and outside the classroom.
