Where Will Your Wings Take You?

Friday morning gave our students an opportunity to discover new ways to get involved at SMCC.

At our annual Club Fair, students explored some of the clubs and organizations that were on display and connected with classmates who share their interests and passions. It was a chance to learn more about the opportunities available to them and discover new ways to be part of our school community.

Our clubs and organizations give students valuable opportunities to build relationships, explore their interests, develop leadership skills, and contribute to the SMCC community beyond the classroom.

There’s a lot to look forward to this year – and it starts with getting involved!

Lunch on the Lawn!

On Friday, we wrapped up our first week of school with a morning full of fun, fellowship, and plenty of SMCC spirit at our annual Lunch on the Lawn!

It was the perfect way to celebrate the first Friday of the school year and cap off a great first week together. A special thank-you to our Student Council for helping make this annual favorite such a great start to the year!

With a noon dismissal, everyone headed into the weekend a little early. Check out some of the smiles from yesterday’s Lunch on the Lawn!

Starting Our Day in Prayer

What a beautiful way to begin the first Friday of the school year! This morning, our SMCC community gathered in the Chapel of the Infant Jesus of Prague for the first of our weekly optional 7 AM Friday Masses. Today’s Mass was offered for Fr. Mike Anagbogu and Deacon Dr. Carl Parran.

Tomorrow marks the anniversary of Fr. Mike’s ordination to the priesthood, making this morning’s Mass an especially meaningful opportunity to pray for and give thanks for his vocation and ministry.

We’re grateful to Fr. Mike and Deacon Dr. Parran for helping us begin our Fridays with the gift of the Eucharist and for the many ways they serve our SMCC community.

And, of course, there were donuts and breakfast beverages waiting for everyone afterward!

Thank you, Fr. Mike and DDP, for saying yes to this special tradition!

Over the weekend, Class of 2030 yard signs popped up around town, welcoming our newest SMCC families!

Our returning families helped continue a special SMCC tradition by delivering yard signs to the homes of our incoming freshmen and transfer students.

We’re grateful to everyone who volunteered their time to make sure our newest students felt welcomed before they even walked through our doors. Your thoughtfulness and SMCC spirit have helped make their first days a little more special!

What a great way to welcome the Class of 2030 and kick off the new school year!

Day One Is in the Books!

The excitement we felt this morning carried right through the first day of school! It was great to see our students back in the halls and classrooms as the new school year got underway.

We’re hiring an Interventionist!

Overview

St. Mary Catholic Central is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered individual to support students in our inclusion program that require additional academic, organizational, and executive-functioning support. The Interventionist will work closely with students, teachers, counselors, administrators, and families, to identify their needs and implement effective interventions that promote academic growth, confidence, independence, and overall success.

As a Catholic school, we seek an educator who embraces the mission of Catholic education and is committed to nurturing the whole person while recognizing the dignity and unique gifts of every student.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, special education, school counseling, psychology, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
• Experience working with high school students and/or students with diverse learning needs.
• Knowledge of evidence-based academic intervention strategies.
• Understanding of learning differences, executive functioning, and adolescent development.

30 Years of Faithful Service

After the final bell today, we took a moment to recognize someone who has been an important part of the SMCC community for three decades.

Today marks 30 years to the day since Roxanne White joined the SMCC community, and we presented her with an award honoring her 30 years of faithful service to St. Mary Catholic Central. For 30 years, Roxanne has cared for SMCC students with patience, kindness and dedication, getting them safely to and from school and driving our athletic teams safely to events.

There was no better backdrop for this recognition than her school bus, with some of the students who ride her bus looking on from the windows.

Thank you, Roxanne, for 30 years of service and for the care you’ve shown so many SMCC students!

Back to School at SMCC!

And just like that, the 2026–27 school year is underway! This morning brought plenty of smiles, excitement, laughter, and energy to SMCC as we welcomed our students back to campus.

Our seniors got the morning started with Senior Sunrise, celebrating the beginning of their final year together with breakfast, fellowship, and plenty of memories in the making. What a special way for the Class of 2027 to welcome their “last first day!”

And then there was a little first-day fun in the parking lot! Our seniors were on hand for “Kiss Your Momma!” – encouraging our underclassmen to give Mom or Dad a kiss goodbye before heading into school. It may just be the beginning of a new SMCC tradition!

There’s already so much excitement in the air, and we can’t wait to see what this year brings. Here’s to a great year ahead, Falcons and Kestrels!
