Congratulations to Terance Mathis on being named to the 2026 ballot for the Georgia High School Football Hall of Fame!

Before he starred in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons and built an incredible coaching career, Coach Mathis was a standout multi-sport athlete at Redan High School in Stone Mountain, Georgia. His impact on the game has already earned him induction into the College Football Hall of Fame and the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, and now he is being recognized for his remarkable high school career as well.

Athens Christian School is honored to have Coach Mathis leading our football program and mentoring our student-athletes both on and off the field.

Please join us in congratulating Coach Mathis on this well-deserved honor! πŸ¦…πŸˆ

πŸ† BACK TO BACK STATE CHAMPIONS πŸ†

The ACS Eagle Runners capped off an unforgettable season by bringing home both the Boys State Championship and Girls State Runner-Up finishes at the GIAA State Championships after sweeping BOTH Boys and Girls Region Championships the week before.

But this season was about much more than medals and trophies.

Just minutes before the Region Championships began, the Eagles lost one of their top scorers and the 2025 state meet high point man, Johann Brink, to a season-ending injury. Then, during championship week, Coach Tim Cummings suffered a heart attack and underwent emergency surgery just days before the state meet.

Through every obstacle, this team never stopped fighting.

The boys team battled through adversity to repeat as STATE CHAMPIONS and go back to back, while the girls team scored nearly 100 points against one of the top programs in the South to earn STATE RUNNER-UP honors.

From record-breaking performances by Christian Hubbard, to dominant distance races from Jane Wangari, hurdle championships from Kay Ellis, huge relay performances, field event medals, and athletes stepping up in every possible way, this team showed what resilience, heart, and determination truly look like.

Most importantly, these athletes represented Christ with strength, perseverance, humility, and unity through every challenge they faced.

We are incredibly proud of our coaches, athletes, and everyone who helped make this season so special.

Congratulations to our REGION CHAMPIONS and BACK TO BACK STATE CHAMPION Eagle Runners! πŸ¦…
