What a powerful evening we had on Tuesday, August 11th for our August meeting celebrating Women’s Equality. A huge thank you to our guest speaker, Elizabeth “Liz” Pierre, for an inspiring presentation on the journey of women's impact in leadership and public policy “From Suffrage to Strategy: The Evolution of Women's Impact on Public Policy and Community Leadership.”

Thank you to all of the members and guest who joined us at ULM Stubbs Hall to connect, learn, and lead. It was an incredible turnout.

On July 15th, we celebrate a monumental milestone—the 107th anniversary of the Monroe-West Monroe Business and Professional Women’s Club. From the trailblazing women who established our chapter over a century ago to the incredible leaders paving the way today, our core mission has never wavered: Honoring Our Legacy, Empowering Our Future.

BPW remains a space where lasting friendships are developed, professional and personal growth is nurtured, and mentorship thrives at every level.

On Thursday, I attended the Clara Lionel Foundation’s listening session in Shreveport to help strengthen the women’s entrepreneurship ecosystem across northern Louisiana. CLF is focusing on supporting women‑led and community‑rooted businesses, and this conversation will help shape their investments in our region. I also enjoyed meeting Rosanna Saladin‑Subero, CLF’s Director of Programs for Women’s Entrepreneurship. Proud to be part of this work for our community.

The Monroe–West Monroe Business and Professional Women organization, in partnership with the University of Louisiana Monroe, proudly commemorates more than three decades of collaboration in advancing educational opportunities for women. On June 15, Monroe–West Monroe BPW presented a $4,500 contribution from our 2026 scholarship fundraising efforts to the ULM Foundation.
During this presentation, the ULM Foundation also announced a transformational estate gift from the late Peggy Wells, past president of Monroe–West Monroe BPW and State President of the Louisiana Federation of Business & Professional Women (2010–2011), of more than $22,000.
Today’s recognition was especially meaningful, as it coincided with Peggy’s born day. Her lifelong dedication to service, leadership, and the advancement of women continues to inspire our work and strengthen our mission.
We honor her legacy with gratitude and reaffirm our commitment to empowering women through education, opportunity, and community partnership.

The award highlights individuals and organizations whose contributions help Monroe–West Monroe thrive. Tonight was also a celebration of 50 years of promoting the Twin Cities as a tourist destination.
