We are thrilled to welcome Calista Weis to the UA family as our new theater teacher!
She has been teaching theater for 5 years after graduating with a BA in Theatre Education from Winthrop University. When she’s not at school making theatre magic happen, she’s either crafting at a local coffee shop, performing in community productions, or making her husband listen to her talk about their two cats: Spicy and Beans.
Welcome to UA!

Tropical vibes, great friends, and memories to last a lifetime. 🌴✨
Paradise Found, HS Bound was the perfect way for our 8th graders to celebrate before heading off to high school!

Her students are constantly involved, collaborating, exploring new ideas, and taking ownership of their learning. Through her energy, creativity, and dedication, she inspires students to stay curious and excited about learning each day.
LS Teacher of the Year: As a kindergarten teacher, Chandler Hoffman creates a classroom filled with learning, laughter, and love. Her dedication to our youngest Cardinals helps build a strong foundation for lifelong success. We are grateful for the impact she makes every day at Union Academy!

UA Awards/Recognition:
I have been on the varsity cheer team winning 3 state championships and the varsity swim team all 4 years of high school. I have also been on the yearbook staff for two year and have been apart of the National Art Honors Society for two years.
Community Service:
I have completed my and doubled my hours. I have completed most of my hours through the Monroe Community Shelter. I have gotten to help and meet so many new people. There’s always an opportunity to help someone in need and spread kindness to others. Volunteering and helping at events taught me how to be selfless to others and made me realize the importance of giving back to our community. It never hurts to help put a smile on someone’s face.
Advice to Underclassmen:
Participate in everything you can. Don’t be afraid to make new friends and have conversations with new people. They might end up becoming some of your best friends. Don’t be afraid of being embarrassed, because at the end of the day, those little moments don't define you! So go do what you want to do and live the life you want to live, because you only get one chance to make it count.

One of my biggest accomplishments has been creating the Cardinals Helping Cardinals backpack program, which provides food for students at UA facing food insecurity. Supporting students within our own Cardinal family has been incredibly rewarding.
Advice to underclassmen:
High school really does go by faster than you think. Don’t wait for the “big moments” to enjoy it. The little things matter the most. Take pictures, but also put the phone down sometimes and just be there. Go to the events, cheer a little louder, and stay a little longer, because those small moments are what turn into the memories you’ll miss the most. High school isn’t just about getting through it. It’s about actually living it while you’re in it. Always remember that these were the “Good Old Days”! 🤗
