It is a vibrant, polka-dot-filled week in the art room! πŸŽƒπŸ”΄ We are diving into the world of contemporary art history by crafting our own Yayoi Kusama-inspired pumpkin ornaments! Every art student created one so look for these to come home!

Our students are working hard to bring Kusama's signature repetition, patterns, and bold style to life. We are officially in the final stretch of production and getting everything ready to transform our school hallway into an immersive, collaborative installation!

Keep an eye out for a massive pop of autumn color coming to the display walls very soon. ✨

🦴 Who gets to make 375-million-year-old friends? WE DO! πŸͺ¨

Our Meadow Montessori students traveled to Fossil Park in Sylvania, Ohio, for an adventure millions of years in the making!

Armed with curiosity and a sense of adventure, our students explored, searched, and discovered fossils that offered a glimpse into prehistoric life.

At Meadow Montessori, we believe some of the most memorable learning experiences happen beyond the classroom. Field trips like this bring science, history, and the natural world to life through hands-on discovery.

A special thank-you to Outdoor Sylvania for helping make this adventure possible!
And one thing is for certain…
We really DIG these field trips! ❀️

β€’ Pumpkin Scrubbing & Washing: Children use a small brush, a bowl of water, and a sponge to scrub dirt off real pumpkins, strengthening grip and coordination.
β€’ Pouring & Transfer Work: Using small metal or glass pitchers, children pour items like acorn kernels, popcorn, or cooled apple c***r from one container to another.
β€’ Sweeping & Raking: Child-sized brooms and rakes let children sweep fallen leaves or tidy up outdoor and indoor spaces.
β€’ Pumpkin Seed Extraction & Tonging: Opening a pumpkin allows children to feel the fibrous strands, extract seeds, and use tongs or tweezers to sort them.

In October 2021, President Joe Biden issued the first-ever presidential proclamation declaring the second Monday in October Indigenous People’s Day to celebrate and honor the invaluable contributions and resilience of Native Americans.

Today and for many days to come, communities across the country will celebrate Indigenous People’s Day with prayer vigils, powwows, symposiums, concerts, lectures, rallies and more to acknowledge the sovereignty, cultures, history and languages of Native peoples. The day also marks an important opportunity to move forward together armed with an understanding of our history into a kinder, more compassionate and equitable future.
