A week from today, the ULM P-40’s will present their spring concert, “Shake Your Booty!” Join us on Monday April 20th at 7:30pm in Brown Auditorium on the campus of ULM. The concert will include favorites like “Hit the Road Jack,” Moondance,” “That’s the Way I Like It,” “At Last,” and modern hits like Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please, Please, Please,” and Olivia Rodrigo’s “Get Him Back.” Hope to see you there!

ULM Jazz Ensemble Presents "Jazz4Kidz — Music for the Young at Heart" April 22, Noon–1:00 p.m., Brown Auditorium, University of Louisiana Monroe

MONROE, La. — The ULM Jazz Ensemble invites families to its first-ever Jazz for Kids concert, "Jazz4Kidz — Music for the Young at Heart," on April 22 from noon to 1:00 p.m. in Brown Auditorium on the ULM campus. This 50-minute program is crafted to engage young listeners and introduce them to America’s original art form: jazz.

The repertoire includes big-band arrangements of familiar favorites from Disney films, Broadway, and classic children’s tunes. Selections scheduled to be featured include "The Bare Necessities," "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," "La Cucaracha," "Pure Imagination," "When You Wish Upon a Star," and many more crowd-pleasers adapted to delight young and young-at-heart audiences alike.

"Jazz4Kidz" is the inaugural concert in ULM’s new KinderJazz series presented by the Jazz and Commercial Music program. The event is designed to spark curiosity in aspiring young musicians while offering an entertaining, family-friendly afternoon of live music. This event is free and open to the public, so please join us for the lunchtime concert and allow this music to refresh your youthful spirit!

Phi Kappa Phi is an honor society established in 1897 to recognize and encourage superior scholarship without restriction as to the area of study. It was the fourth academic society in the United States to be organized around recognizing academic excellence, and it is the oldest all-discipline honor society.

Join the ULM Vocal and Choral area for "Celebrate Singing!" on Friday, March 27th! This event is for high school students to get a sneak peek into what it is like to be a vocal major at ULM. The day includes singing with the ULM Concert Choir, masterclasses, and free admission to the ULM musical, Rodgers and Hammerstein's magical "Cinderella."

This Black History Month, the ULM School of Visual and Performing Arts recognizes and celebrates the enduring contributions of Black artists, educators, scholars, and cultural leaders whose work continues to shape the visual and performing arts.

From music, theatre, and dance to visual art and design, Black creators have expanded our understanding of expression, storytelling, and community. Their influence is foundational to the traditions we teach, the performances we present, and the creative futures we help our students build.

Throughout February and beyond, we honor this legacy by uplifting creativity, excellence, and the power of the arts to reflect lived experience, preserve history, and inspire connection.

The ULM School of Visual and Performing Arts is pleased to welcome J'Aime Griffith as our new instructor of Dance. J'Aime is a Louisiana-based creative force in dance and performance — a choreographer, performer, costume designer, and dance educator who blends modern, West African, and contemporary movement into original work. She holds an MFA in Dance from the University of Oklahoma and serves as Assistant Professor of Dance and Artistic Director of Orchesis Dance Company at Grambling State University. Her creative work spans concert dance, dance film, majorette, Afro-contemporary, and interdisciplinary performance, with choreography and films presented nationally. J’Aime is also a published writer, an active arts advocate, and a dedicated mentor committed to cultivating the next generation of artists through technique, history, and community engagement.

J'Aime will teach technique courses in dance at ULM and will coach the Dance Repertory Ensemble. Welcome to Warhawk Country, J'Aime!!!
