The MCTM Connections Series has already brought together educators from across Michigan for compelling conversations with researchers and leaders in mathematics education. We’ve explored big ideas, challenged our thinking, and considered what high-quality mathematics learning can look like for ALL students.

And we’re just getting started!

Silver Arcos joins us for **“Beyond the Sidebar: Using Embedded Language Supports to Power Math Instruction for MLLs/ELs.”** We’ll explore how embedded language supports can help multilingual learners, and all students, build deeper mathematical understanding.

Our next session spotlight features Bethany Singer, a tier 2 math teacher. She is looking forward to connecting with teachers who have also had students in their classrooms who say, "I'm not good at math, and don't get it." URGENT CALL TO ACTION FOR MICHIGAN MATH EDUCATION

The FY 2026-27 state budget is still being negotiated, and decisions made in the coming weeks will directly impact mathematics and STEM education across Michigan.

MCTM is advocating for:
• Continued funding for the Early Math Learning System and Early Math Specialists
• Continued MiSTEM Network funding
• Professional learning and instructional support for educators
• Sustained investments in mathematics teaching and learning statewide

Why does this matter?

Strong mathematics education doesn't happen by accident. These investments support the educators, systems, and partnerships that help students build the mathematical understanding they need for future success, STEM opportunities, and career readiness.

Legislators need to hear from educators, parents, school leaders, community members, and business partners now. Personal messages from constituents can influence budget decisions and help ensure mathematics remains a priority in the final budget.
