The loss of a firehouse is deeply felt, as it represents far more than a building. It is the center of operations, training, camaraderie, and unwavering service to the community. We recognize the challenges that lie ahead and the impact this incident has on your department.

Chief Lee’s vision, leadership, and unwavering dedication helped build the foundation of our company and left a lasting impact on our department and the community we proudly serve. His years of selfless service, commitment to the fire service, and mentorship of countless members will never be forgotten.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Lee family and all who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside him. Please keep his family, friends, and his fire service families in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

A tornado watch and flood watch are currently in effect for our area. Please stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve. Be alert for rapidly changing weather and never drive through flooded roadways. If you see a dangerous situation, such as flooding, downed power lines, or storm damage that poses an immediate threat to life or safety, call 911 immediately. Stay safe and continue to monitor local weather updates.

🌩️ Tornado Watch Issued for Orange County Until 9:00 PM 🌩️

Orange County remains under both a Tornado Watch and Flood Watch through this evening as multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms move through the region.

*WATCH* = Conditions are favorable for hazardous weather - be prepared to act.

While a tornado is NOT occurring at this time, residents should remain weather aware and be prepared to take immediate action if a warning is issued.

• Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts this afternoon and evening. If a Tornado Warning is issued, move immediately to the lowest level of a sturdy building, away from windows.

• Heavy rainfall may produce localized flash flooding, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Never drive through flooded roadways. Turn Around, Don't Drown.

• Orange County Emergency Services continues to monitor conditions in coordination with the National Weather Service and our local, state and regional partners. We will provide updates as needed.

🚨 Huge News! 🚨

The word is out… and the rig is home! 🚒

As our district continues to grow and building construction evolves, the Board of Fire Commissioners and the officers of the South Blooming Grove Fire District recognized the need to expand our capabilities to better protect our community.

In 2016, our Board of Fire Commissioners began the search to replace our 1981 Seagrave ladder truck—while remaining committed to doing so without placing a financial burden on our taxpayers. That effort led to the acquisition of our 1992 75-foot Pierce Quint in 2020.

Since then, our community has continued to grow, and so have the demands placed on our fire district. Once again, the Board of Fire Commissioners and district officers began searching for an apparatus that would better meet the needs of today’s response environment.

We’re proud to introduce the newest addition to our fleet—a 1999 Pierce 105-foot Aerial equipped with a 2,000 GPM pump.

This apparatus will significantly enhance our ability to serve and protect the residents and businesses of the South Blooming Grove Fire District. Best of all, this investment was made without the cost of purchasing a brand-new apparatus, continuing our commitment to being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars.

We look forward to placing this truck into service after inspections, equipment mounting, training, and final preparations.

This morning we did a joint extrication drill with members of the Kiryas Joel Fire Department. Familiarizing ourselves with each others capabilities better prepares us for real life scenarios when we call on each other for mutual aid.

It is with deep regret that the Mountain Lodge Park Fire Company announces the passing of Life Member, Past Company President and Past President of the Mt. Lodge Benevolent Association, Charles Brant. Charlie served the Fire Company faithfully for 36 years. Rest in eternal peace Charlie, we'll take it from here.
