A new school year can bring excitement, but it can also bring stress, questions, and a LOT to figure out.

That’s where the Youth Opportunity Program (YOP) can help! 🌟

If you’re a young person ages 14–24 living in Monroe County, YOP is here to support you — whether you’re in school, working toward your GED, graduating soon, or figuring out what comes next.

Through YOP, you can get support with:

📚 Education
• GED preparation and completion
• Tutoring and academic support
• Help creating a plan for your education

🎓 College & Career Planning
• Exploring careers and career interests
• College and training program planning
• Job shadows and career experiences
• Pre-apprenticeship opportunities

💼 Work Experience
• Job readiness training
• Paid and unpaid work experiences
• Internships and employer connections
• Help preparing for and finding a job

💰 Financial & Practical Support
• Stipends for eligible activities
• Assistance with work-related needs
• Equipment, uniforms, and other necessities that can help remove barriers

🌱 Personalized Support
• One-on-one career coaching
• Goal setting and planning
• Workshops, field trips, and hands-on experiences
• Connections to other community resources

And you don’t have to have your whole future figured out before you reach out. ❤

Sometimes the first step is simply saying, “I don’t know what I’m doing next.”

You can fill out an application and interview onsite!

There are multiple openings across the district, with options ranging from 10–37.5 hours per week, including:
👩‍🏫 Classroom & Lunch Assistants — $14.95–$16.00/hr
🚸 Crossing Guards — $14.95/hr
💙 Behavior Technicians — $14.95–$16.00/hr
🧩 Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) — $22.41–$25.59/hr

Pay for some positions is based on education and/or experience.

💙 Interested in a career where you can make a real difference in your community?

Registration is now open for the September 2026 Community Health Worker (CHW) Training Program through SEMCA Michigan Works!

Community Health Workers help bridge the gap between healthcare and underserved communities by connecting people with resources, providing support, and improving access to care.

Program Highlights:
✅ FREE 8-week online training
✅ Earn your Community Health Worker credential and Behavioral Health Micro-Credential
✅ 40-hour internship for real-world experience
✅ Interactive classes, projects, and hands-on skills practice
✅ Earn up to $150 per week in stipends while participating

📅 Training Dates: September 14 – November 4, 2026
📝 Registration is now open!

Eligibility includes:
✔️ Ages 18–29
✔️ High school diploma or GED
✔️ Must meet SEMCA eligibility requirements, including residency

⚠️ Spots are limited! Once the cohort is full, additional applicants will be placed on a waiting list for the January 2027 training session.
