Every person (children included) in attendance will be required to provide a ticket upon entry. Graduates do NOT need a ticket to participate in graduation. Below you will find all the details for graduation.

In accordance with the UCPS Event Protocols, Piedmont High will enforce the following rules for our guests:

Piedmont High will utilize body scanners at the entrance to our stadium.

Only clear bags, no larger than 4.5” x 6.5”, will be allowed in. Medical and baby bags are subject to search. This includes pocketbooks/purses.

No outside food or beverage will be permitted. Each person will be allowed one unopened bottle of water.

Umbrellas, balloons, and noisemakers are prohibited.

Stadium Ceremony Guidelines:

Weather Protocol: We will make every attempt to have our graduation tomorrow morning at 8:00 am. If we have rain on the day of graduation, we will go into a rain delay until we have a window of opportunity to move forward with graduation. If timing becomes an issue due to weather, we will make adjustments to the program to accommodate all parents seeing their student cross the stage. In the case of lightning, graduates will move into the building, and all spectators will be asked to move to their vehicles. We will send updates via social media and the Connect Ed system.

Gates to the stadium will open at 7:00 am. All graduates will enter the outdoor cafeteria entrance on the parking lot side at 7:00 am to begin the check-in process with your homeroom teacher.

With each senior receiving eight (8) tickets, please be advised that parking will be limited. It is recommended that all family/friends carpool.

Graduates are to leave their phones, handbags, and personal items in the car or with their guests. You CANNOT carry your personal items during the graduation ceremony.

Graduates should report directly to the cafeteria and locate their homeroom teacher. Honor cords will be distributed by your Homeroom teacher for the following: Summa Cum Laude (4.25 GPA and higher), Magna Cum Laude (4.0 to 4.24 GPA), Cum Laude (3.75 to 3.99 GPA).

North Carolina Scholar and CTE Academy cords will also be distributed.

Graduates are only allowed to wear the following school-issued cords and recognitions: Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, Cum Laude, NC Scholar, NHS Stole, CTE program completers, and South Piedmont Pathway Honorees. No other cords or stoles will be allowed.

There will be a designated handicapped parking section at the Love Mill (Football) entrance of the stadium.

Piedmont High will provide golf-cart transportation for guests in need of assistance.

Once admitted to the stadium, guests will not be allowed to exit and re-enter. Please make sure you have everything you need before entering the stadium.

Guests should report to either the home side bleachers or the visitors’ side bleachers. Guests may wish to bring a towel to dry the bleachers.

Each graduate’s chair in the stadium will be reserved with a name card that contains important information regarding the ceremony. YOU MUST KEEP THE CARD AT ALL TIMES and carry the card on stage.

Graduates will be assigned a “row teacher” who will assist with ceremony instructions.

Upstate Images will take photographs of the graduates as they walk across the stage AND as graduates exit the stage. These pictures will be made available by a link provided in an email from Upstate Images after the graduation ceremony.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, seniors will be dismissed by rows and should exit the stadium. The Graduation Marshals will assist in your dismissal.

Seniors will report back to the Cafeteria to receive their actual NC Diploma.

Graduation is a very formal occasion; thus, we desire to uphold the standards that this occasion deserves for our seniors, the school, and the Piedmont Community.
