✨ Once Upon a Time in 2nd Grade… ✨

We had the BEST time celebrating Fairy Tales & Tall Tales today! 🏰📚 Our day was filled with fun as we dressed up as our favorite characters, created fairy tale and tall tale crafts, and even enjoyed some delicious pancakes like Paul Bunyan! 🥞👑🪄

It was such a magical way to wrap up our learning and bring these stories to life! 💕✨ Happily ever after looks pretty sweet in 2nd grade! 📖💫

First week of 2nd grade is officially in the books! 🐯✏️💗 We spent the week learning routines, making new friends, working together, and having lots of fun along the way. We are already so proud of this sweet group of tigers and can’t wait to see all the amazing things they accomplish this year! ✨📚🍎

Please join us in welcoming Deputy Marshall Burton!

My name is E. Oreece Burton, II. I began my law-enforcement career with the New Orleans Police Department before making a lateral transfer to my hometown of Monroe, Louisiana, where I continued my career with the Monroe Police Department.

While with M.P.D., I served as the coordinator for the O. K. Program, a youth mentoring initiative focused on positively impacting young men ages 11–18. I’m especially proud of the relationships I built through that program and seeing some of the young men I mentored eventually pursue careers in law enforcement.

I currently serve under the leadership of Monroe City Marshal Robert Cherry, Jr. as a Deputy Marshal and School Resource Officer at Lexington Elementary School.

As an SRO, my goal is to build positive relationships between students and law enforcement and to help young people see officers not only as protectors, but also as mentors, role models, and trusted members of their community. I’m passionate about bridging the gap between youth and law enforcement and creating positive experiences that build trust and respect.
